To round out your learning experience, the Discovery Centre offers a whole suite of science-based movies, free with your visit to the Centre! All of our films are visually stimulating and entertaining but educational as well, with multiple curriculum links for students.
All of our films are presented in full 1080p High Definition, which is five times the resolution of standard video and is the highest quality motion picture format available. HD’s technological virtues – wide screen picture, crystal clarity, and vibrant colour – make you feel like you’re swimming through the ocean and flying through space!

The Human Body
The Human Body reveals the incredible story of life. The film presents a look at the biological processes that go on without our control and often without our notice. It is a tale of what takes place beneath the skin as we follow a family from dawn to dusk as they go about their daily routine. The Human Body incorporates ground-breaking computer graphics with stunning real-life images to create a day in the life of a human body.
Life: Insects
Insects are the most diverse animal group on the planet. The key to their success is their unique ability to reshape themselves. They possess fearsome weapons, yet can display surprising tenderness and sophisticated behaviour. Take to the skies with millions of Monarch Butterflies in Mexico; see a beetle spray boiling chemicals at its enemies; witness giant bees fight to the death over females; join the marching columns of Grass Cutter Ants; and spend a jeopardy-filled day with Damselflies. This film is appropriate for Grades P-12.
Walking with Dinosaurs: Death of a Dynasty
65 million years ago, dinosaurs seemed as vifogrous as ever. But there are hidden pressures in the environment. This film marks the dramatic end of the great dinosaurs themselves. With the devastating impact of a giant meteor, these magnificent creatures finally disappear from the Earth. This film is appropriate for Grades 4-12.
Life: Plants
The drama of the plant world is impossible to view with the naked eye. But using the latest time-lapse technology, all is revealed: how a Venus Flytrap snaps shut and imprisons its prey; how the animal-like grasping hooks of the Cat’s Claw Creeper and the sticky pads of the Boston Ivy help in their flight for light. Ecopolis: Ultimate Ecopolis
In this film, Dr. Kammen reviews 20 bold solutions to five challenging environmental issues facing future cities. Based on the feasibility of implementing the technologies involved and the solutions’ ability to reduce carbon production, Kammen has narrowed the list to five of the best. Now he will decide which single innovation should take priority in the fight to save our future cities. This film is appropriate for Grades 7-12.
